FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
What are your candles made of?Here at Coastal Yard all our handcrafted candles are made with three prime ingredients, a natural coconut and rapeseed wax, cotton wicks, fragrance oil and nothing else.
-
Where do you source your materials?Everything we use to make our range is sourced from companies within the U.K
-
Where are your products made?As a small business, currently all our products are made within the family home. Handpoured and handpacked, making every item created unique.
-
Why all natural candles?Rapeseed and Coconut waxes are a renewable source and are naturally bio-degradable which makes it a very eco-friendly sustainable product. The natural wax burns cleaner with far less sooting, burns more slowly making your candle last longer.
-
My candle has small hairline cracks on the top, is it damaged?"The nature of a natural wax is just that. Natural. As there are no additives in the wax this sometimes happens if the wax has become quite cold. It doesn't however effect the burn and the cracks will disappear once lit.
-
My candle looks like it's burning to one side? The wicks that Coastal Yard use are self trimming and so do tend to bend over a little. This is totally normal. However as the was melts, the wick can move as the wax pool gets bigger. Once extinguished, take a toothpick or such like and re-center before the wax re sets. Please always trim your wick before each burn using scissors, a wick trimmer or even nail clippers! This keeps your flame steady and reduces soot.
-
What about your photography? At Coastal Yard there is a little diversity. I am also a coastal photographer and print all my fine art with my own high end photography printer. Everything is shipped properly packaged, whether it be just a print or a framed seascape. Prints will be sent out in a tube.

-
Do you only do Black & White?I primarily deal in black and white prints but of course should you want a colour edition I am more than happy to accommodate.
